It cost me $65 in gas and five hours of my day to discover that my son was transported back to the county jail today; we probably passed him on the freeway as we left town.  The hospital was certainly quick to call to determine who was going to pay for the hospital visit, but they couldn’t call to let me know he had been released.  I had spoken with the social worker on Monday, late afternoon to confirm that we were on his approved visitor list and told her we would be there on Wednesday as close to the 3 PM beginning of visiting hours.

Should you ever find yourself in a situation similar to mine, call in advance of leaving to confirm you will be able to visit your family member.

On the positive side, I spent that five hours with my daughter.
