Ginger Beer, the real deal

My aching head and upset stomach seemed to be needing some TLC after a few days of simmering misery, so after work on Wednesday I went to the grocery store to pick up a few items.  On a corner display were these Crabbies Original Alcoholic Ginger Beers – ginger ale was on my list, but I brought this home instead.  I didn’t expect the carbonated beverage to really ‘do’ any thing for me, so sipping this  was an acceptable substitute.  (Had I thought about it I would have brewed up some herbal tea for my poor unhappy stomach.)

This product was new to me, not beer, of course, but not a soft drink either.  The company has been around since 1801, you’d think they know what they are doing after so long.  It tasted just like non-alcoholic ginger ale; hadn’t used a lime in that before, but will probably try it now as the acidity in the lime worked well with this beverage.  I would have enjoyed a bit more ginger flavor, but over all it was good.  4.8% ABV and no bitterness (except for the lime rind) made it a very easy drinker.

Alas, the four-pack didn’t last but two days (there is still half of a lime remaining) and I don’t feel any better.  I guess it is time to make that cup of herbal tea.

Cheers!
