2015 burst forth in bubbles

2013 Secco Italian Bubbles Brut Spumante from Charles Smith Wines helped us ring in 2015.

Charles Smith Wines provided us with a Washington link to an Italian Prosecco to celebrate this New Years Eve: 2013 Secco Italian Bubbles.  Mr. Smith teamed up with two Italian sisters, Ginevra & Olivia Casa from Rome, to bring this 100% Chardonnay brut spumante, or dry sparkling into being.  The grapes are from the San Polo di Piave, in the northern Piave Valley of Veneto (northeastern Italy).

Don Ho’s ‘Tiny Bubbles’, many, many of them, seem to be crammed into the bottle!  An easy drinker with a subtle sweetness on the nose, a nice smooth mouth feel and  good minerality.  We were already a few bottles of still wine into the night, so details weren’t as clearly remembered as I thought they would be.  It also took us a couple of hours after midnight to finish said bottles and turn in; once I have had more sleep I may recall more.

Our kitties missed us overnight: Dragon claims my feet when my laptop occupies his preferred spot. Oscar is much closer to us than usual.

We were away from home to celebrate so  our kitties were left locked inside together.  The local bully cat, Rudy, is still stalking these two leaving us no choice but to lock the pet doors in an effort to deter his presence during our absence.  Although not happy to be imprisoned, they were quite content to settle in close to us once we returned.

Looking forward to a stellar 2015 with you, cheers!
